Sri Raja Rajeshwara temple

History

Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple is devoted to Sri Raja Rajeswara Swamy an incarnation of Lord shiva is popularly known as Dakshina Kashi is located at Vemulawada a town 35 km away from Karimnagar, in the Telangana state, India. It is one of the major piligrim destination in northern telangana. Here the Raja Rajeswara Swamy is famous as Rajanna. The city serves as a business capital for the neighbouring villages with city population of more than 60,000 has pilgrims from all over india. It is built by Chalukya kings between AD 750 and 975. This temples also has deities like Rama, Lakshmana, Lakshmi, Ganapathy, Lord Padmanabha Swamy and Lord Bhimeshwara. The attractive part of the temple is it open galleries, were it contain various number of shiva idols and a Dharma Gundam, a holy tank where pilgrims bathe then proceed for darshan. It is belived that it contain healing properties. During Sravana masam an aspicious day for hindus the temple will be fully crowded even the the temple provide accomidation. At the time of Maha Shiva Rathri, more than 500,000 people visit Vemulavada for the blessings of their god.
